KELLER WILLIAMS – FREDRICKSBURG, VA

normal keller-williams-4

Singer, songwriter, and guitarist Keller Williams is literally a one-man band. His fascinating live shows feature him solo on-stage with a Gibson Echoplex Digital Pro looping unit, and he creates his backing loops in the moment, building and improvising as he goes on his custom-made ten-string guitar, and thanks to his equally as quirky, upbeat, and semi-surreal songs (which he frequently weaves into extended, half-improvised medleys) and his warm, friendly tenor singing voice, Williams is an utterly unique performer whose musical eccentricities don't keep him from being immediately accessible. A native of Virginia, Williams received his first guitar at the age of three, although he admits he didn't really learn to play it until he was in his early teens. He attended high school in his hometown of Fredericksburg, and began playing solo gigs when he was 17. He discovered the new age guitar genius of Michael Hedges a year or so later, and Hedges has been a lifelong influence on Williams' approach to the guitar.

LARRY KEEL AND NATURAL BRIDGE – ASHVILLE, NC

keelLarry Keel and Natural Bridge bring a fresh and spontaneous new look, sound, and energy - described by some reviewers as the most powerful, innovative and all-out exhilarating acoustic, Americana flat-picker performing today. Keel has weathered the changing tides of traditional bluegrass, country, jam rock, roots reggae, and even the currently emerging indie-alt scene always honoring the pioneers that introduced Bluegrass and Mountain Music into popular culture. He is a continually evolving musical force standing in ongoing defiance to all genre expectations. The mission is always clear: to let technical skill, honest emotion and fearlessness connect the playing and singing to audiences, to entertain and to thoroughly enjoy the experience!

ZACH DEPUTY – BLUFFINGTON, SC

ZachDeputy2

Zach Deputy has made his mark thus far as a touring powerhouse. As a boy, the music of his Puerto Rican, Cruzan and Irish heritage was cooked up in the South Carolina heat. The Calypso rhythms and folk songs of St. Croix competed with the R&B / soul of pioneers like James Brown and Ray Charles for space on the family stereo. As Deputy honed his craft, a unique hybrid of these influences emerged, ultimately creating the signature Zach Deputy sound. To bring this sound to the stage, the big, impossibly upbeat South Carolinian with the infectious smile puts on a solo show– enhanced by looping technology– that is essentially a one man dance party offering up what he calls “Island-infused, Drum ‘n’ Bass, Gospel-Ninja-Soul” to the enthusiastic crowds of dancers who flock to clubs from coast-to-coast.

THAT 1 GUY – SAN FRANCISCO, CA

THE ULTIMATUMS – FAIRMONT, WV

Ults

From the hollers of West by God Virginia rise The Ultimatums; a nine member dirty soul band. The Ults were formed in September of 2006 by Michael Stewart as an answer to the stale bar band scene that rolls over the same tired classic rock covers. The goal was to deliver original music to the gun totin’ beer swillin’ masses through high energy stage shows and 60’s laden soul hooks blasted from the four man horn section like salt peter from a shot gun. A few out of the ordinary cover songs even crept into the set list just in case there wasn’t any chicken wire at the venue. At first the shows were raw, stripped down, juke joint affairs where the band and the audience would dress in their Sunday’s best just to dance, sweat, smoke, and drink themselves into the back row at church and put money into their dry cleaners pockets. With time and some staff changes the boys have honed their skills to knife’s edge rock, ass shakin’ grooves, and howlin’ at the moon blues laments. Get yourself a secondhand suit, some foldin’ money, and a dancin’ partner ‘cause The Ultimatums aren’t your Dad’s horn band.
